Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee is all set to host ‘Cognizance’, the annual fest on March 24, 2017. Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Railways and Prakash Javadekar, HRD Minister will grace the occasion with their presence. The annual fest will continue for three days and various events are lined up as a part of ‘Cognizance’. The annual fest consists of entertainment nights, entrepreneurial summits, social campaigns, workshops, panel discussions, exhibitions and guest lectures.
It is expected that around 5,000 students will participate in more than 200 events including gaming, coding, literacy, online and robotics. Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Railways will inaugurate the event.
Various technology giants like Samsung, Microsoft and IBM will organise workshops on varied topics ranging from robotics, Android App development, stock market investing, digital marketing to augmented reality. The workshop will help the participants to gain first-hand experience with high-end technical features that will further improvise their skills.
During the placements that were held in December 2016, one of the students of Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee bagged an annual package of Rs. 95 lakh per annum. He was selected by an American software giant Microsoft. He was a student of Computer Science engineering at IIT Roorkee.
The placements also witnessed the increase in the number of offers from Public Sector Undertakings. Around 251 jobs were offered by PSUs and a total number of 18 students opted for jobs in PSUs. One of the students bagged the highest domestic package of Rs. 23 lakh per annum.
