One of the premier technical institutes in India, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar will host its sixth convocation ceremony on November 28, 2017. The premier institute is taking steps to conduct convocation ceremony at its newly acquired permanent campus, located on the banks of the river Sutlej. The permanent campus is spread over 500 acres, and it is the most favourable place for hosting the convocation ceremony.
The new campus of IIT Ropar will be operational in 2018. The master plan of IIT Ropar’s new campus has been awarded five-star green rating, ‘GRIHA’.

According to sources, Principal Advisor to the Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy, Professor Ashok Jhunjunwala will be the chief guest for the sixth convocation ceremony of IIT Ropar.
IIT Ropar was established in the year 2008. The premier institute is highly popular for its research initiatives. Currently, IIT Ropar accommodates 1,100 students along with 120 faculty members.

IIT Ropar has been ranked third among the new Indian Institutes of Technology. On the other hand, the premier technical institute has been ranked fifth in engineering category in the NIRF Rankings 2017. The research output and quality of education at IIT Ropar are expected to improve now that the institute has started operating from the permanent campus.
Recently, IIT Ropar has signed Memorandum of Understanding with an Australian university to strengthen the academic ties between the two universities and nations. The MoU will facilitate joint research programmes between the two institutes. Both the premier institutes will take up research in telecommunications. The MoU will also facilitate interactive sessions and activities for both students and faculty.
