To the shock of the Railways higher officials, a candidate with B.Tech and M.Tech degrees from Indian Institute of Technology - Mumbai joins the Group D services of Railways. The authorities claimed that they never observed a claimant with such qualifications to join the RRB Group D services. Currently, the IITian is working as a Track maintainer or Trackman in the Dhanbad region.
According to Sharwan Kumar, the IITian, job security was the main reason for him to join the RRB Group D services, which is usually not provided by other employment providers. Currently, Kumar has been posted to the Chandrapura and works under Public works Inspector, PWI, Telo as a track maintainer in the region.
Many senior officials at the Dhanbad Railway Station are astonished by seeing such a qualified person maintaining the track or to pursue any group D Job for that matter.

Kumar was pursued a dual degree from IIT Mumbai from 2010 to 2015 and was always interested in going for a government job. He is a resident of Bihar and started preparing for the government jobs after completing his degree.
After securing a Group D position in Railways, he aspires to crack other government exams that would take him to greater heights. He seems to be sure of becoming an officer one day and has started preparing for the same.

However, most of his friends and fellow batchmates are working in private and corporate workspaces with great salary packages but, even they failed in convincing him to drop his craze for the government jobs.
