The state government is planning to implement new syllabus in the Industrial Training Institutions-ITIs and Polytechnic Colleges from the new academic session. The state government is planning to introduce the new syllabus to improve the quality of technical education in the state to keep up the pace with modern technologies along with providing an option of education in Punjabi medium in the respective institutions.

Charanjit Singh Channi Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister stated that special teacher training programs were being conducted to inform and update the faculty of government industrial training institutions and polytechnic colleges. He also said that from this academic year English language as a subject will be introduced in the institutes so that the students get an equal opportunity to compete at national and international level. This initiative will also help them to gain the exposure and encourage overall development.
He also added that the state government will also introduce skill development centres in the government technical institutes and polytechnic colleges. They will also provide free training to the students who are unable to afford it but have the required skillset and wish to make their career in same.

While inaugurating the state-level job fair at Patti, Channi granted Rs. 1 crore for the infrastructural requirements of these technical institutes. He also announced the commissioning of one unite each of welder, painter, computer hardware and other at government ITI.
