Jamia Millia Islamia has bagged the first position among the list of central universities in the country. The list was recently released by the Ministry of Education and JMI stood out among all the central universities with 90 per cent score. Apart from Jamia Millia Islamia, universities such as Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh,Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh scored 83, 82 and 78 per cent respectively in the Grading/Scoring yardstick of the Ministry of Education.
The scores of the central universities are based on the key parameters that were fixed in 2019-20, under a Memorandum of Understanding. JMI is one of the best central universities in India that is widely known for its academic excellence. Earlier this year, the university was also featured in the top ten list of NIRF 2020 (National Institutional Ranking Framework) that was released by the Hon’ble HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. Jamia Millia Islamia was ranked at the tenth position in the universities category. Last year, i.e. in 2019, the university was on the 12th spot. In the overall NIRF ranking, the varsity secured 16th position jumping three places from 19th last year.
The Faculty of Law at JMI acquired the 9th rank among Law colleges and the Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics has bagged the 10th place in the list of Architecture colleges.
