IIM-Shillong is the only institute among the 23 IIMs that has the prefix, Rajiv Gandhi. The name of the institute led to many problems, and most of the politicians did not support it.
The BJP State Youth Wing mentioned that the institute must be renamed as A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Indian Institute of Management, Shillong.
The minister also said that aadhar number is not mandatory to avail scholarships. However, he advised students to possess aadhar card. The government is enrolling aadhar free of cost, and the students can make use of the facility to the maximum. He clarified that aadhar is a unique identity card and not a citizenship card.
