Rohan Gupta of Lucknow's Montessori School Gomti Nagar branch has secured AIR 43 in JEE Main 2017 with a score of 328/360. His parents were delighted to learn this on Thursday. It was a nostalgic moment for them since Rohan's father, Rohit and his mother, Anamika had cracked JEE with AIR 196 in 1998 and AIPMT in 1991 with rank 123, respectively.

Rohit Gupta is a software engineer while Anamika Gupta is a gynaecologist. The proud father was extremely happy with the performance of his son which was far better than what they did in their own time. He is pretty much confident that Rohan will do well in JEE Advanced as well, mentioning that Rohan has always taken his studies seriously. It was due to Rohan that they had to go without television sets for two years, he added. Rohit is hopeful that his son will make to one of the IITs.

Rohan had joined FIIT-JEE coaching centre in Class 11 with an aim to pursue studies in the field of computer science, just like his father. He believes that a lot of creativity is involved in it. Toying with the computers has been his childhood hobby. He completed his class 10 from La Martineire College and then did his senior secondary qualification from the CMS Gomti Nagar branch. Rohan also cleared NCERT’s National Talent Search Examination in standard 10th and is, therefore, receiving Rs 15,000 annually as scholarship.

While speaking about JEE Main 2017 examination, Rohan revealed that the paper was easy but lengthy, in particular, the maths paper. He added that as class 12th marks will not be counted this year, he will stay focused to prepare for JEE Advanced which is scheduled to be held on 21st May 2017.

Rohan's mother, Anamika who works at the community health centre in Lucknow revealed that his son has also cleared Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), an on-going National Programme of Fellowship in Basic Sciences which is initiated and also funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, to attract focused students for pursuing basic science courses and a career in research sciences.
