In the latest announcement made by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), diabetic JEE (Main) 2018 aspirants can carry fruits, sugar and water in transparent bottles inside the examination halls. CBSE included the above-mentioned guideline in the informational bulletin of JEE Main 2018 examination. Diabetic JEE aspirants will be allowed to carry fruits such as oranges, bananas and apples. However, these candidates should not carry packaged food items like candies or chocolates inside the examination halls.

CBSE had rolled out the similar provision for diabetic students appearing for the Class 10 & Class 12 board exams. Children or students suffering from diabetics need frequent meals to regulate hypoglycaemia. These candidates need to submit a certificate from a diabetic specialist before appearing for the exams. CBSE issued a circular to all the schools in this regard.

While giving his opinion, a diabetic specialist indicated that the move to allow diabetic students to carry eatables like fruits to the examination centres is much warranted, as those students who are on insulin might face an unanticipated drop in sugar levels. During this situation, the absence of any food option might hamper their concentration and performance during the examination. Apart from allowing the students to carry fruits and water, CBSE should also allow the candidates to carry cookies, he added.

The notification of JEE Main 2018 examination has been released and the online application process will begin on December 1, 2017. January 2, 2018, is the deadline to submit the online applications for this national level engineering entrance exam.
