In the wake of the resign of Vice Chancellor of Kalyani University, the varsity authorities decided to withdraw the fee hike decision as demanded by the students.

“The university will roll back the amount and bring it to the 2013-14 level for post-graduate students. The amount of money will be notified to the students in coming week.
The committee had taken the decision of roll back the students’ fees after VC’s nod,” said a member of the fee review committee to media.

The students and non-teaching staff had been highlighting the issue of fee hike to VC on several occasions since February. The situation became tense after VC resigned and submitted his resignation to the Governor.
Before that the VC and several other senior university staff and teachers were gheraoed by post-graduate students for hours.
The state Education minister Partha Chatterjee and Governor has asked the VC to carry on his work.

The University of Kalyani established in 1960 is a State Government administered, affiliating and Research University in Nadia district of West Bengal. It provide courses at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels
