KCET Result 2022: Students' Reaction on New Ranking Methodology

The new ranking methodology of KEA has invited mixed reactions from students -

• A few fresher students pointed out that PUC 2 exams were held in 2021 and most of the repeater students got 95% or above in the exams. Therefore, the new ranking methodology will majorly benefit repeaters than freshers 

However, students must wait for the result and check the revised ranks before drawing any conclusion. KEA is intended to make justice for fresher students and repeaters.

KCET Result 2022: A recap of repeaters issue

• After the KCET result was announced on July 30, almost 24,000 repeater students approached HC as they were not given 50:50 weightage at par with fresher students. Only CET marks of repeater students are taken into consideration for determining ranks
• The Single Bench Judge of Karnataka HC ordered KEA to provide equal justice to both repeater and freshers
• However, Karnataka HC challenged the single judge order in Divisional Bench
• The divisional bench suggested the government to come up with a solution
• The Government of Karnataka submitted its solution by formulating a new ranking methodology
• The Divisional Bench of HC approved the Government's solution and passed the judgment to revise KCET results and ranks as per the new ranking methodology
