KIIT Deemed University, Bhubaneswar has decided to provide free of cost professional and technical education to children of COVID deceased in Odisha. This information was shared by Dr Achyuta Samanta in a special announcement on 26 July 2020. Dr Samanta is the founder of KIIT and KISS, and it is on his proposal that this facility has been launched by the institute.
The institute has informed that this facility will be available for the upcoming two academic years only i.e. in 2020-21 and 2021-22. Children who are interested in availing the courses offered by KIIT-DU free of cost can apply for admission to the institute including the ITI and Diploma courses.
However, candidates must first ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria of KIIT specific to their chosen course. Candidates belonging to the BPL/ SC/ ST/ SCBC categories will be given preference during selection for this programme.

KIIT University is the only university in the world to have taken such a step to improve the lives of families of the COVID deceased persons. Through this move, the university aims to provide some relief to the families whose livelihoods have been destroyed by the COVID-19 pandemic and who are struggling to make ends meet.
