List of M.Tech Entrance Exams in India

M.Tech, abbreviated as a Master’s in Technology is a postgraduate degree that is pursued by the students after completing their (B.Tech). M.Tech is a two-year degree program where the students opt for a specific course in which they want to pursue their master’s. The specialistions offered in the M.Tech program include Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, etc.

M.Tech can be pursued as either a regular program or a part-time degree program. The applicants who hold a degree in diploma and acquire certain work experience can also apply for the M.Tech program. M.Tech in India is accredited under the aegis of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), University Grants Commission of India (UGC), and National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The admission into the program is done on the basis of various state-level/university level/national level entrance exams which are mentioned in this article along with other details including eligibility, syllabus, dates, and fee structure.

M.Tech Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria 2021

In order to be eligible for the M.Tech entrance exams 2021, students need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • The students must have pursued their bachelor’s degree from any recognised board/university.

  • The student must have acquired a minimum aggregate of 50% (45% for reserved caste) in their UG degree.

  • The applicant must have completed his 10+2 in the science stream with major subjects as physics/chemistry/maths.

  • Applicants who have pursued a 5 years course as a science program and acquire a master’s degree in science can also apply for the M.Tech program.

Civil Engineering

  • Steel Structure: Principles of working stress method, Built-up sections and frames, Design of connections, Design of Industrial roofs, Design of simple members and frames
  • Concrete Structure: Working stress, Design of beams, slabs, columns, Limit state and Ultimate load design concepts, Analysis of beam sections, Bond and development length.
  • Structural Analysis: Statically determinate and indeterminate structures, Displacement methods, Analysis of trusses, arches, beams, cables, and frames, Stiffness and flexibility methods, Influence lines
  • Construction Planning and Management: Construction activity, Use of Basic principles of network - analysis in form of CPM and PERT, Quality assurance principles, Basic principles of Economic analysis and methods, Cost optimization and resource allocation, Project profitability

Electrical Engineering

Circuit Theory: Electric Circuits Network graph, Sinusoidal steady‐state analysis, KCL, KVL, Transient response of DC and AC networks, Node and Mesh analysis, Resonance, theorems.

Signal System: Shifting and scaling operations, Sampling Theorem, Linear Time-Invariant and Causal systems, Fourier series representation of continuous periodic signals

Power System: Power Systems, AC and DC transmission concepts, Power generation concepts, Electric field distribution and insulators, Models and performance.

Electronic Devices and Circuits: Analog and Digital Electronics Characteristics of diodes, MOSFET, BJT, Amplifiers, Simple diode circuits, Oscillators, and Feedback amplifiers

Mechanical Engineering

  • Engineering Mechanics: System of forces, equilibrium equations, free-body diagrams, Friction, Energy methods, Impulse-momentum, Principles of virtual work
  • Theory of Machines: Displacement, flywheels and governors, velocity and acceleration, gyroscope
  • Vibrations: Free and forced vibration of freedom systems, vibration isolation, effect of damping, resonance.
  • Computer Integrated Manufacturing: Basic CAD/CAM concepts and their integration tools
  • Engineering Materials: Structure and properties of engineering materials, heat treatment, phase diagrams, stress-strain diagrams for engineering materials.

Biotechnology

  • Plant and Animal Physiology: Photosynthesis, hormones functions, cell structure, Animal Physiology, hormones, Circulatory System, different systems
  • Plant and Animal Cell: Plant and Animal cell: Classification and general characteristics, Cell Membrane, Cell organelles, Classical experiments of biology.
  • Genetics and environmental Science: Genetics and Nucleic acid, Molecular Biology, Transgenic, Genetically Modified Plants, Genetic engineering, Ecology, Evolution, Environmental Science
  • Applied Biotechnology: Plant Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Bioprocess engineering and technology, Intellectual Property Rights
  • Metabolism: Metabolism-carbohydrates, Enzymes, lipids and proteins

  • Grammar: Parts of speech – Noun, Preposition, Pronoun, Conjunction, Interjection, Verb, Adjective, Adverb; Tenses: Active and Passive Form for Present, Past and Future Tense; Modal Verbs – Can, Might, Would, Could, Should, May, Will
  • Common Errors: Error Searching and Sentence Correction Exercises
  • Associative Language Skills: Antonyms, one-word substitution, Synonyms, Idioms and Phrases, Word Analogies
  • Comprehensive Passage: Identification of key ideas or themes, open and closed paragraphs

M.Tech Course Fee 2021

On average, the fee structure for the M.Tech course in India ranges between Rs. 30,000-50,000 per annum. It is advisable to prepare well before going for an entrance exam by looking into the syllabus and practising the previous years' entrance exam papers.

You can do MBA no matter how many years of gap is there between your graduation and your admission to MBA. MBA can be done if you are a graduate with 50% marks which is the eligibility criteria for most of the Institutes.

Yes, you can take admission to M.Tech CSE through qualifying for the GATE CSE exam.

But, we will advise you to pursue your M.Tech with Civil Engineering as you studied every single thing of civil and lastly changing your domain can cause you to start from the bottom. Also, M.Tech is very much related to what you studied in B.Tech, so it will be harder to cope up with everything.
