KIIT & KISS (deemed-to-be university) celebrated International Women’s Day on March 08, 2018, at KIIT Convention Centre. The Chief Guest of the celebrations was popular Bollywood actress, Sharmila Tagore.
Interacting the with the girl students of KIIT & KISS, Sharmila Tagore emphasised on creating precedence for women and challenging the status quo. Both the things have remained bleak or pending even after 70 years of independence. Over many years, attitude towards feminine gender and status quo have been at stake. The mindset of men remained change due to which women are still facing challenges in the society. The existing feudal mindset of men should be changed for an equitable society, she pointed.

Delivering the presidential address, President of KIIT and KISS, Smt. Saswati Bal expressed her concern that women are still living in fear. Confidence and courage are the two key factors that women have to develop to prove themselves successful in the career. Women in the society should lead an equitable, respectable and competitive life at par with men, she highlighted.

The welcome address was delivered by Chairperson of KIIT International School, Dr. Monalisha Bal. Later, Registrar of KIIT, Dr. Sasmitarani Samanta and Vice Chancellor of KIIT, Professor Hrishikesh Mohanty delivered a speech on ‘Women Empowerment’. Many other professionals and guests were present at the event and motivated girl students of KIIT and KISS through their speech. Faculty members and other important officials of KIIT & KISS were present at the event.
