When last week a B.Com (Hons) student from Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR) Rhea Grover, was offered highest of Rs 29 lakh by EY Parthenon it came as a headline of most of the newspapers of the county.
Behind this great success of the college, there is the placement cell of the college that has been working professionally with utmost dedication.
“The placements this year have been phenomenal and definitely a major leap from our performance last year. By the end of just the first placement season, we have managed to beat our own record of the highest package from last year (18 lpa), to this season's highest placement of 29 lpa (highest in University of Delhi). The average package has gone up from 6 lpa in 2014-15 to 7 lpa 2015-16. This is surely one of the best years we have had,” said Dr. Kanika K. Ahuja Convener, Placement Cell
Currently, 9 students share the honours of getting placed with the Super-Blue bracket of recruiters at LSR (companies offering a pay package of more than 12 lakh per annum) with their salaries averaging 15.67 lpa. With more than 95 students already holding onto a job offer; placements at LSR have not only been unparalleled but also, immensely successful.
“This year has also witnessed the maximum number of super-blue recruiters. In addition to our prised recruiters, many start-ups and NGOs including Teach for India, Gandhi fellowship, Young India Fellowship also visited the campus for recruitment,” said Ms. Siksha Deepak, Faculty Co-Advisor.
Some of the top companies that have hired students this year include Parthenon EY, McKinsey and Company, Boston Consulting Group, Kepler Cannon, Bain Capability Center, Samsung, DE Shaw, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, KPMG, Willis Towers Watson, Citibank, Wipro. Some start-ups that visited our campus include Crayon Data, Grofers, CarDekho, InShorts etc.
“We are extremely delighted with the performance of LSR students at placements this year. With a plethora of reputed recruiters showing interest in the undergraduate campus placements arena, and with our incessant efforts as the LSR Placement Cell, at expanding and diversifying the recruiter base, we are positive in our endeavor to have maximum students placed before the end of the academic session. Our focus is on inviting companies offering diverse portfolios that provide competitive opportunities to students from various academic backgrounds,” said Dr. Arvind Kumar, Faculty Advisor.
“Some of our first time recruiters are Parthenon EY, BCG, AB InBev, Samsung Research Centre, Nearbuy (formerly known as Groupon). The response has been overwhelming from their part.” said Ishita Arun, a coordinator of the placement cell. The Coordinators of the Placement Cell at LSR, Ishita Arun, Meghana Mungikar, Niharika Sachdeva, Sarvin Singh, Tanima Nigam along with the treasurer Aditi Misra and sub-coordinator Shaina, have put in immense effort to make this placement year successful and one of the best till date.
