The third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has stirred uncertainty amongst the students regarding if the SSC and HSC Exams 2022 might be conducted or not. The Maharashtra Board has released a statement stating that no changes are made and that the exams would be conducted as planned.
The Maharashtra State Board authorities declared on January 10, 2022, Monday, that the SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 12) exams will be conducted as per the latest timetable for both HSC and SSC released on December 16, 2021, with no changes whatsoever.
As per this, the Maharashtra Board SSC Exams will be carried out during the period from 15 March 2022 to 04 April 2022; while the HSC Exams will take place from 04 March 2022 to 30 March 2022. Maharashtra Board has given the liberty of conduction to the schools and colleges in the case of practical and oral examinations as long as it adheres to the time span given by them.

Earlier this year, the Maharashtra Board has taken steps of cancellation in 2020 as well as 2021, beginning with the SSC Board Exam in 2020 when the first wave of COVID-19 had hit the country. Although the board authorities seemed adamant on the refusal of any changes to the datesheet of Class 10 and also the datesheet of Class 12, the Maharashtra Board Chairman, Sharad Gosavi, maintaining a cloud of uncertainty, said. “Depending on the situation before the exam, a decision would be made if necessary.”
Maharashtra board has shown no steps yet to follow the national boards like CBSE and ICSE who declared their evaluation to be through two terms, the first of which was held in November/December 2021, and intends to rely on their traditional way of evaluation to have fairer results as Term 1 exams were not conducted by the board but the respective institutes unlike the approach taken by CBSE and CICSE.

It is not advised for the students to expect cancellation as the state government has already reduced the syllabus by 25% for both SSC and HSC, thus honouring the difficulties faced by the students during this pandemic situation, along with securing a fair assessment.
