The Maharashtra government has decided to provide Foreign Education Scholarship to Open (General) and OBC category students similar to what the Schedule Caste (SC) and Schedule Tribe (ST) candidates have been getting to pursue higher education abroad.
Students from Vimukt Jaati & Bhaktya Jamati (nomadic & denotified tribes) will also come under this scheme and will be eligible for scholarship, said the Chief Minister of the state. According to the release, every year, a total of 20 students will get the scholarship and among those, 10 students will be selected from the open category.

The selected who get selected for the scholarship for the will get an opportunity to opt from among 200 leading foreign universities. Adding to this, the government also stated that 30% of the scholarship seats will be reserved for women. A total of ₹20 crore has been set aside for the scheme. The courses for which these scholarships will be offered will mostly be related to streams such as artificial intelligence, climate change, energy conservation, nano-technology and data analytics.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also said that the cabinet has also agreed on Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Mission that aims to encourage organic farming and to stop the excessive use of chemicals and pesticides. The mission is expected to kick-start in Buldhana, Akola, Yavatmal and Wardha districts of the state.
