MBBS courses will now have modules on pandemic management. The modules will contain social, legal, and other aspects of the MBBS course. MCI decided to introduce the new module to prepare doctors for the post-COVID-19 era.
The pandemic management module will be offered from the foundation course to the final year UG course will help in producing medical professionals who will not only serve as a doctor and as leaders during the pandemic. MCI aims to prepare doctors for challenges posed by such pandemic and to fight the same.
According to the reports, the Medical Council of India has revised regulations on Graduate Medical Education and Competency-based undergraduate curriculum.
The pandemic management module will cover the history of outbreaks, epidemics, and pandemics, sample collection, control practices, microbial diagnosis, vaccination strategies including vaccine development and implementation, therapeutic strategies including new drug development and care of patients during pandemic and crisis.
The pandemic management will prepare doctors to fight pandemic like COVID-19 and challenges which come with them.This pandemic management module is designed to ensure that MBBS students acquire competencies in handling not only the illness but also the social, legal, and other issues which arise from such pandemics.

The module will take place in a phase-based manner and the modules will be covered by an interdisciplinary team under the supervision of the college-level curriculum Committee.
