During M.Com exams of Mumbai University held on January 29, 2018, students were given question paper in the old pattern. However, the issue did not take place in all the affiliated colleges. Over 650 students in five examination centres received Strategic Management question paper in the old pattern. The question paper did not have 15-mark objectives. After the issue came into the limelight, the authorities of the University of Mumbai assured that students would not suffer any academic loss or loss of marks due to the issue.
Many students who appeared for the exam in these centres did not realise that the question paper was given in the old pattern. It was only after contacting their friends, students realised that their question paper was different from the paper distributed in other exam centres.

On contacting the officials of MU, they mentioned that it is the responsibility of the college principals to download the question paper by verifying the appropriate code. On the other hand, the college principals did not agree with the argument of the varsity. One of the college principals claimed that there is no necessity to verify the code, as the subject and syllabus was same.
Mumbai University clarified that the Board of Studies would look into the matter. Students in the five exam centres who took the exam in the old pattern will not suffer due to the error.
