The DU sports trials, which began on June 22, 2018, witnessed participation from students in large numbers. Despite the scorching heat, the north campus of Delhi Universitywas full of aspiring candidates who waited for more than 10 hours to take part in the DU sports trials. However, the candidates were not happy with the management of the varsity as the authorities failed to provide basic facilities like water and other refreshments.
The university stadium at the north campus of DU turned chaotic with a large number of students looking for water and other refreshments. Applicants who were present at the venue by 7:30 AM, waited until 2:30 PM to take part in the preliminary trials. On the other hand, many students complained that the verification of documents was slow at the venue, which further irked the aspirants.

Due to the lack of water and basic refreshments, students were exhausted by the time sports trials began. Basketball trials continued until 6:00 PM on the first day. Trials for many other sports continued on Day 2 as the number of students participating was huge. Non-Delhi students faced difficulty in arranging for the overnight stay.

Delhi University centralised sports trials for 33 sports categories began on June 22, 2018, across 22 venues. Since there are large numbers of applicants, it is the responsibility of the concerned authorities to provide basic facilities to students. On the other hand, the lengthy certificate verification process has been delaying the commencement of preliminary trials.
