The National Testing Agency (NTA) is planning to conduct the JEE Main exam in more centres this year. The entrance exam is scheduled to be conducted from September 01 to 06, 2020. In order to maintain social distancing norms, NTA required more cities and towns to be added as the exam centres of JEE Main.NTA has urged TCS iON, conducting body of online exams in India to look for possibilities on setting up new exam centres in different cities and towns.
The idea to add new exam centres was proposed by one of the members of the MHRD Committee, which was set up to decide the new exam dates for JEE Main. In its report, the committee proposed for new exam centres with an aim to ensure student safety.
NTA conducts JEE Main in all major cities and towns across the country. This year, it requires more centres, as each centre could accommodate fewer students than the existing capacity. As these centres will have to follow social distancing norms and ensure student safety, there is a requirement for the new exam centres.
TCS iON will soon respond to NTA with regard to the possibilities of increasing exam centres.
NTA has re-opened the online application correction window for the candidates to make changes in application form and exam centre preferences.
JEE Main 2020 exam, which was supposed to be conducted from July 18 to 23, 2020, has been postponed to September 1-6. This is the second postponement of the entrance exam.
