As per the data that is given by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), a total number of 19,85,397 students are going to appear for Class 10 & 12 board examinations that are scheduled to begin on March 9, 2017. Out of them, 10.98,891 students are from Class 12 and 8,86,506 students from Class 10. CBSE has made all the arrangements for the smooth conduct of board examinations.

The number of students appearing for board examinations has increased as compared to 2016. In Class 10 examinations, around 2,00,000 additional students are going to take examination than last year. Similarly, the number of students appearing for Class 12 examination increased by 30,000.

On the other hand, the female-male ratio has been less with 4,60,026 girls and 6,38,865 boys taking part in the Class 12 examinations. Similarly, out of 8,86,506 students who are appearing for Class 10 examinations, 3,70,615 are girls and 5,15,891 are boys.

Among the cities across India, Chennai stands in the first place as more students are appearing for Class 10 board exams from the city. Similarly, Delhi stands in the top spot in terms of a number of students appearing for Class 12 examinations. Panchkula has emerged as the city with the largest number of examination centres for board exams.

The number of schools registered for Class 10 board examination has been increased this year. Similarly, a total number of 10,678 schools registered for Class 12 examinations.

To ensure the smooth conduct of examinations, CBSE has taken various measures like introducing ‘Exam Locator’ app, Online Affiliated Schools Information System (OASIS), appointing full-time observers at sensitive exam centres and others.
