Following the leaking of paper of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) Phase 2 Ramnagar and Haldwani police has arrested five people on last Sunday.
The question paper was changed last minute by the management after being informed of the leak by Nainital police on last Saturday night, senior superintendent of police, Nainital revealed.
Amid tight security NEET Phase 2 was conducted at examination centres across the country on Sunday morning. About 4,500 people gave the exam at seven centres in Haldwani.
The police arrested five people named Nishat Ahmed of Delhi, Sanjay Kumar Prabhat of Sheikhpura and Ajay Sinha of Rohtas from Bihar. Later on, they revealed more people associated with the racket and arrested Dinesh Prasad and Vikas Kumar both hailing from Bihar.
From the confession of around 40 students, it has come to light that they had paid Rs 10-40 lakhs for the leaked paper.
An interstate gang was operating in the area said Swatantra Kumar,Circle officer, Ramnagar. He also said that they were informed by informers that an interstate gang was operating in the region while giving candidates the NEET-2 question paper. They had already received the money in advance.

Several students from Bihar with their parents were staying at a resort in Ramnagar which the police have tracked down. They were given the leaked papers on Saturday night before they had gone to Haldwani where the exam centres were located.
Officers in disguise were able to enter the resort and caught the accused red-handed when they were distributing the paper.
Those students from Bihar said that they preferred Haldwani as the exam centre because their area was plagued by natural calamities.
