The admissions which were scheduled to begin in February this year will now begin in January of the next year, implying that no first-year PG medical student will be able to start the course in 2021. The current status of the medical field is one of frustration, uncertainty, and anguish due to delays in admission and NEET PG Counselling 2021.
Further, the resident doctors that are currently studying in their 2nd and 3rd year PG medical courses are shouldering the workload of three batches of resident doctors with only two batches available, resulting in exhaustion and deteriorating mental health. Frustrated by the current situation, resident doctors at many governments and corporation-run hospitals across the country have begun protests, requesting that the admissions should start as soon as possible.
If the stay on admissions is not lifted soon, Dr Pranav Jadhav, Vice-President of the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD), has threatened to close the OPD within a week.

"Nowhere else on the earth has education been impacted to the extent that a whole batch of PG medical college students was denied admission as a result of Covid." Instead of focusing on bringing on more doctors, our system has ensured that no medical students will be admitted in 2021," said by one of the thousands of PG medical aspirants affected by these delays.
