The hearing at Court 3 was led by Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sanjay Kumar from Serial number 25 to 25.7. They challenged the two-shift format for the NEET PG 2025 exam. The UDF, which filed its petition on May 2, wants the exam to happen in one shift on June 15. They argue that the scoring process is unfair. On the other hand, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) pleaded that the UDF should not be involved in this and that delaying the exam would mess up the academic schedule. Despite this, a survey by the UDF shows that 96% of more than 2,500 people who responded support having the exam in a single shift. Additionally, they have collected over 6,000 signatures in their campaign.

Here are the major highlights of the case hearing being held today, May 30, 2025.- Holding the exam in two shifts leads to arbitrariness. The question paper cant be same in two shifts, and this will lead to a discrepancy.
- The court is currently not addressing the issue related to the release of answer keys.
- According to counsel, malpractice could be possible if exam is held in two shifts.
- The court hereby orders to conduct the exam in single shift, and there is almost 2 weeks to make necessary arrangements. The exam will not be held in single shift.
- Holding the exam in two shifts creates arbitrariness. Normalisation has to be applied only in exceptional cases, and it should not become a routine practice year-after-year.
- The bench questioned the Counsel that why can't you identify more exam centres. Why did it not happen before. If you think that identifying more centres might take time and delay the exam process, apply for extension, the bench quoted.
- NBE should ensure that the single-shift exam must be conducted with transparency, orders court.
- The respondents argue that increasing exam centers would cause delays, impacting the court's fixed timeline for exams, counseling, and admissions.
