New Zealand and Delhi government are working closely to improve educational standards in the country with the help of academicians all across. New Zealand has also recently launched a three-year post-study visa scheme to encourage more students to study in New Zealand.
While addressing and taking over the opportunity at the New Zealand India Academic Conclave, Deputy CM of Delhi, Mr. Manish Sisodia urged for cooperation and assistance in the form of international collaborations so that Delhi colleges and institutes can improve the quality of education that is being imparted there.
He pointed out that of the 2.5 lakh students who complete class12th from Delhi school, about 1.5 lakh students either opt for international education professional education or drop out in between before completing higher education. He further elaborated that if proper guidance is received from international academia who not only understand the dynamics of the Indian higher education system but can also help achieve global standards, then the primary objective can be achieved.
According to him, sending students to study in other parts of the globe is one thing but creating a suitable environment for learning and growth is equally important in the colleges and universities in the country.

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar also participated in the conclave through a video message where he stressed upon the Study in India programme in order to increase student mobility. He also urged the academia to devise a roadmap for the education policies of India so that they can be improvised for the better.
Elaborating on the objectives of the New Zealand India Academic Conclave, NZ High Commissioner, Ms. Joanna Kempkers said that the focus will be to strengthen the foundations in the education domain for the benefit of both the countries. She revealed that about 14 academicians will be delivering close to 44 lectures across 21 universities in India in order to enhance people-to-people relations.

John Laxon, Education New Zealand Regional Director also said that the country has recently launched a three-year open work visa for international students who have a bachelor's level degree or higher. It has removed the employers-assisted post-study work visas at all the levels. New Zealand will also provide a one-year post-study open work visa to students who are studying in levels 4 to 6 or non-degree level 7 qualifications. Additionally, candidates who are studying level 8 qualifications are also encouraged to bring their partner or dependent children along with them who will be eligible for the open work visa and free domestic schooling respectively.
