The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has released the results of class 10th and 12th for the academic year 2020. The Supreme Court had released a statement asking NIOS to announce the result for the current academic session until 7th August 2020.
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has released the class 10th and 12th results 2020. All the candidates who had appeared for the class 12th exams of NIOS in the year 2020 can check their results online. A few days before, the Supreme Court of India had asked NIOS to ensure that the result for the current academic year must be declared by 7th August 2020.
The NIOS class 12th results 2020 were released on August 5, 2020 and the NIOS class 10th results 2020 have been declared today, on August 6, 2020.
A bench headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar was recently informed about the decision taken by NIOS of cancelling the senior secondary and secondary examination. The bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dinesh Maheshwari was further informed that the exam was earlier re-scheduled due to coronavirus pandemic.
Keeping in view the result declaration done by various boards across the nation, the top Court had come to the conclusion that the result for the current academic year must be declared not later than 7th August 2020. As per the reports, the bench said “Considering the fact that...NIOS has already issued a notification on July 10, 2020, after the institution of these petition(s), nothing survives for consideration in the present writ petition(s) except to observe that...NIOS must ensure that the result for the current academic year is declared not later than August 7, 2020”.
The Supreme Court had announced the decision and specified the time-line after hearing petitions that had raised issues pertaining to NIOS class 10th, class 12th exam amid the spread of COVID-19. Earlier, the notification was released by NIOS on 10th July 2020. It stated that the exams that were re-scheduled to be held on 17th July 2020 were cancelled. The notice claimed that conducting the NIOS Class 10th, class 12th exam amid the pandemic had the possibility of imparting a health risk to students.
How to Check NIOS Class 10th and 12th Result 2020?
Those who have appeared in the NIOS Class 10th and 12th examination can check the results by following the steps given below -
- Visit, nios.ac.in
- Go to the Home page and click on the Result section of the page.
- Now click on ‘Public Examination (Secondary and Sr. Secondary)’.
- A new page will open with Result of NIOS 2020 Examination.
- Now click on Secondary or Sr. Secondary section to get the result.
- A new page will open with a section of Enrollment Number.
- Enter the 12 digit enrollment number and click on Submit button.
- You will now be able to check your result. Download your NIOS result and take a print out of it for future references.

How are the Marks Awarded for NIOS Class 10th and 12th Result 2020?
NIOS follows marking criteria in order to release the result for Class 10th and Class 12th students. Check the assessment scheme of NIOS elaborated below, discussing the pointers based on which the performance of a candidate is evaluated.
The NIOS class 10th and class 12th students who attempted four subjects in the past are awarded marks of the top three performed subjects as their final marks in the theory exams of this year.
Those students who have appeared only in three subjects are provided with the marks of their best two subjects. It is essential for the students to have registered for those subjects in the exam of this year too.
Students who have performed only in one or two subjects are awarded marks as per their performance in the past three public exam result.
For candidates who are appearing for the first time or are the first-timers, their practical marks or tutor-marked assignments would be considered viz a viz the performance of past three public exam subjects for which the student registered but they could not be held this time.
This year, as a one time option, the students will get a choice to appear in the next on-demand exam or public exam once the situation turns favourable and normalcy is restored.
