The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal celebrated its 16th convocation on 18th August 2018 at 2.30 pm at the auditorium of the institute.
Renowned academician and scientist Prof Ashutosh Sharma who is also a Secretary to the Government of India and Institute of Chair Professor, IIT Kanpur was the chief guest for the event. Addressing the graduates at the 16th convocation of NIT-Warangal, he said that NITW continued to produce legions of exceptional, world-class scientists, engineers and researchers.
Ashutosh Sharma appreciated members of a team from NITW who created an e-bike. He also conducted test drive of the electric bike, named Epick Bike, on the campus premises
According to reports, over 1,444 candidates were awarded degrees during the convocation ceremony. Out of this, 772 students were awarded B.Tech degrees, 614 students were awarded M.Tech and other post-graduate degrees and the remaining 58 students were awarded Ph.D. degrees.
Also, each topper of the B.Tech class was awarded the Roll of Honour Gold Medal and the topper of all the departments was awarded the Institute Gold Medal.
National Institute of Technology Warangal is in the first chain of 30 NITs in the country. The prestigious institute is known for its academic excellence, faculty and infrastructure. At present, the institute has over thirteen academic departments and also has few advanced research centres in the field of science and management and engineering.
