Types of Degrees Offered in NIT Colleges in India
After the IITs, the NITs are India's most prestigious engineering institutes. NIT colleges in India offers a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, and dual degree programs that candidates can pursue. In addition, NITs also offer 5-year dual degree programs in a variety of subjects. There are three NITs in India that offer MBA or BBA programs too. NIT Colleges in India 2024: Eligibility Criteria
The NIT admission process is entirely merit-based. Mentioned below is the eligibility criteria for securing admission into the top NIT colleges in India.
Candidates are required to qualify their 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 75% marks from a recognized Board. Candidates from SC/ST category are provided with a relaxation upto 65%
For BTech admission, candidates are required to qualify the JEE Main and GATE for admission into ME/ MTech courses
For other popular programmes such as MBA, MCA, MSc, etc, candidates are required to qualify entrance exams such as CAT, NIMCET, IIT JAM, etc.
Candidates who qualify the entrance exams may be also required to appear for Group discussions or personal interview rounds.
As per the current NIT admission policy, half of the total seats at NITs are reserved for candidates who have cleared their Class 12 from that particular state where the NIT is situated. The remaining half is allotted based on the AIR (All India Ranks) secured by candidates from different states.

Entrance Exam for NIT Admission
To be admitted to the NIT colleges in India, candidates must pass entrance exams. The NIT entrance exams are different for bachelor's and master's degrees. Candidates for BTech courses are accepted through the JEE Main exam which is conducted every year. The syllabus for JEE Main exam is prepared based on the CBSE Class 12 Syllabus. JoSAA 2024 Total No. of Seats in NITs
JoSAA publishes category and round-based opening and closing ranks and cutoffs for admission to NITs bachelor, master and dual degree programs. Candidates must register themselves and take part in the JoSAA counselling and seat allocation procedure after the release of the JEE Main results. For candidates who pass both the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams, JoSAA holds a combined counselling session.
