The NSS wing of VR Siddhartha Engineering College organized a Guest Lecture on “Importance of First Aid” on 2-April-2016. The guest lecture was delivered by Dr.Madhan Mohan, convener of Red Cross Blood Bank, Vijayawada. All the NSS volunteers of the college participated in the guest lecture.
Addressing the students Dr.Madhan Mohan spoke that, “First Aids play an important role in rehabilitation during Electrical shock, Snake bite, Dog bites and other poisonous creatures. One must learn the basic first aid that is to be done during the time of emergency. During an injury, one must take steps to prevent the blood clotting which is very dangerous. It is very easy to learn first aid techniques”. He explained various first aid techniques to the students through a power point presentation. He clarified that these techniques must be properly coordinated for the proper healing. He also explained some techniques practically with the help of NSS volunteers. Mock drills were done which gave a clear idea about various first aid techniques.
College NSS Coordinator, Kolla Narendra, mentioned, “The NSS unit of the college organizes various activities like:
- Plantation
- Guest lectures
- Clean and green campaign
The College has a total number of 200 NSS volunteers who participate in various social activities every year. NSS volunteers will be awarded a certificate after the completion of NSS activities at the end of academic year”.
The guest lecture was attended by College principal, NSS Volunteers, Print and Electronic media.
