Osmania University to Attract More Foreign Students This Year

Osmania University (OU) is taking steps to enroll more foreign students this year. Over the years, the number of international students at OU has increased. Considering the increasing demand, the varsity is set to take massive steps to attract more foreign students this year.

As a part of its initiatives to attract international students, Osmania University is promoting itself on social media through a video featuring OU history, infrastructure, OU courses, and other facilities. The video also features the talks of renowned professors of OU. Department of Communication and Journalism has prepared a documentary-type video on OU to boost international student enrolments.

Osmania University will also offer flexible courses to international students so that they can choose a variety of papers at the UG level. These courses will focus on imparting job-oriented skills so that they find jobs after graduation.

According to the official data of the University Foreign Relations Office (UFRO) – OU, the number of international students enrolled in UG, PH, and research courses at the varsity was 900 in 2017-18. International student enrolments in OU dropped to 500 in 2018-19. In all, 2,900 international students are pursuing various courses at Osmania University.

Every year, almost 900 students from Somalia join Osmania University. In 2018-19, many students from Somalia did not get admission in OU as the Indian Embassy due to poor communication skills rejected their Visa.

International students who are planning to seek admission to Osmania University can pay the tuition fees online. The varsity has signed a pact with State Bank of India (SBI) for this purpose. The varsity is trying to sort out technical glitches in the online fee payment system, and it will be launched soon. In the future, the varsity is expected to provide admission cards online.

Admissions for international students in UG and PG courses of Osmania University has commenced for the session 2019-20. May 31, 2019, is the last date to submit online application form through the official website of OU. For MBA and MCA courses, June 30, 2019, is the last date to apply.

Osmania University is also taking steps to prepare cuisines of international students’ preference in hostels.
