HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar felicitated the underprivileged students who secured highest marks in Class XII examinations on 17-July-2016. This initiative has been taken to recognize the hard work done by these students to achieve top marks. The felicitation of the students took place at minister’s residence.
Prakash Javadekar said that the students who secure top marks are often felicitated but the struggle they have put in to reach success is often unnoticed. The students must be recognized for their spirit and determination.
He also mentioned that these students come from poor background. Most of their parents are working as laborers and rickshaw pullers. Despite being from the poor background, the students are able to secure admission in top colleges. There are some students who come from a family of 12 members living in a single room. These students are strong pillars to the nation. Their dedication and sincere efforts must be recognized. These students are role models to the youth.
He also mentioned about the character of Shahrukh Khan in the movie Swades. He also gave an example about a tea seller’s son, Narendra Modi who made it to the post of Prime Minister of the country. The success stories of these people are an inspiration to the youth. So, their dedication and spirit must be recognized.
He also mentioned that the government would implement various schemes for ensuring free education and to bear the expenses of the students belonging to underprivileged sections of society. He appreciated the efforts of NGOs like Asha Society and Navjyoti which are mentoring the children of rural areas to pursue higher education despite all odds.
