In a move to stop the menace of forgery of the certificates and mark sheets, Punjab University has made special arrangements and adopted several scientific measures.
Following measures are being taken to stop the forgery certificates-

Around 900 students who have completed their graduation, Ph.D. and M.Phil courses will be honoured at the annual convocation of the University to be held in March 2017.
Around 80,000 students, who have finished their studies from Panjab University and the colleges affiliated to it, will be honoured with such degrees certificates.
Professor Parvinder Singh, director of Controller of examination (CoE), Panjab University said that the project has been taken to crack down the fake degree certificates. The University has not got any such cases of fake degree certificates on the campus. But such cases are coming up in different places of the state. Now, the university has to be cautious and take appropriate measures to stop them. These new measures will make verification process of the degree certificates easier.
He further said that the project is not much different from the proposed digital degrees of Ministry of Human Resouce Development. Degree certificates having QR codes, authorities from the college and university will be able to verify them by simply scanning the code. Besides, a student will be able to click their respective QR codes and keep it on their phones. In the case of any demand, they can get their degrees verified by showing the code on the phone.
Speaking on the expenditure involved in the process, Professor Singh said that the University has spent three times the amount on designing the certificates compared to last year.
