Purnea University will be providing the upcoming batch of new joinees with the option of pursuing new PG self-financing programmes at the postgraduate level. The students will be able to apply for the course in the disciplines of Physical Education, Science, Arts, Management, Commerce and Law.
In a first for the varsity, Purnea University (PU) becomes the first University to offer 14 new self-financing courses to the students of Bihar. The Vice-Chancellor of PU, Prof Rajesh Singh stated that the courses have been launched to help the students carry better employability and have more opportunities when it comes to finding jobs.
Purnea University will be offering the students various courses at the postgraduate level in different disciplines. Among the courses, then students will be able to pursue a Master of Physical Education, M.Sc in Molecular Breeding, M.Sc Food Science and Technology, M.Sc in Bioinformatics, M.Sc in Fisheries as well as PG Diplomas in Green House Technology as well as Astrology and Palmistry. The candidates interested in pursuing a masters’ course from the University will also be given a choice of pursuing PG programmes in Arts, Library and Informatics Science as well as various PG programmes of Commerce, Management and Law.
Prof Rajesh Singh has stated that the students who complete a course in these self-financing programmes will be able to secure a job in various companies that are multi-national or Governmental in nature. He added that it has been witnessed that the demand for such self-financing courses have been on the rise as students have been getting good jobs after completing such courses. Purnea College, Purnea Mahila College along with D S College Katihar are the PG centres for the varsity where the new PG programmes will be taught to the students.

Sources state that the students will be able to acquire the e-prospectus as well as the application forms for the course on the official website of Purnea University, from 18th June 2019 to 30th June 2019. The varsity will also be offering many more options in terms of PG programmes on offer for the 2019-20 admission process.

VC, Prof Singh stated that the students will be able to pursue a total of 16 postgraduate programmes in Arts, meanwhile, 5 new PG programmes have also been added to the stream of Science along with one more PG programme for the students who wish to pursue higher education in Commerce.
