The result of online examination for the Company Secretaries Foundation Programme conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has been declared.

The exam was held in 114 cities across the country on 3rd and 4th December 2016. Following are the toppers of the exam:
- Deepak Jain from Haryana topped the foundation programme exam.
Second position was secured by Rashmeet Kaur Chhabra from Chandigarh.
Third position was held by VR Shashanghan Suresh and Preeti Rajan Deshmukh from Maharashtra
Around 66.21% candidates passed the foundation programme examination in the December 2016 session. The next CS Foundation Programme examination will be held on 3rd and 4th June 2017, in computerised mode. The exams will include questions on Entrepreneurship, Business Environment, Fundamentals of Accounting, Business Management, Auditing, Communication, Ethics and Business Economics.

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India(ICSI) was constituted in accordance with the Company Secretaries Act, 1980. It is the only recognised professional body in the country to develop and regulate the profession of Company Secretaries in India. Due to increasing demand of the course in 1960, the Company Law Board introduced a course in Company Secretaryship that award Government Diploma in Company Secretaryship. It was converted into a statutory body in 1981. The headquarter of the Institute is located in New Delhi. Its four regional office are located at Chennai, New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.
