With the agenda to encourage academic excellence and research, Sanofi India, a drug firm has signed a MoU with Kolkata’s National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER). The collaboration has the vision of encouraging scholars to participate in progressive research.

In a filing to BSE, Sanofi India stated that this collaboration with NIPER will enable both the parties to carry out productive and advanced research in the field of pharmaceuticals and consumer healthcare products. The firm also stated that it will help in producing useful products that will cater to the current and future requirements of the pharmaceutical industry.
According to the MoU, Sanofi India will offer internship opportunities and project work to the MS and Ph.D. students of NIPER Kolkata at their manufacturing sites. Furthermore, it will ensure association of R&D heads with the thesis work. It will also provide career boosting opportunities and will monitor and motivate collaborative research activities in acknowledged areas.
The MoU between Sanofi India and NIPER Kolkata marks the beginning of new academic approach and was signed in the presence of Honorable President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.

Talking about the new association of Sanofi India, Managing Director of the firm, Shailesh Ayyangar said that it is essential to build collaborations between academia and industry. Ayyangar also added that this will help the students in understanding the industry needs and will also help them address the major task of capacity building that is essential to meet the healthcare challenges in our country.
