A 17- year old lad Ishant Pundir from Nahan, Himachal Pradesh left the school after class 11th to work on his project - Asper. After creating six prototypes, he has come up with an AI-enabled personal assistant robot.
Ishant’s father is a retired school teacher, but he had no objection when his son decided to drop out of school and give time to his project. He completed his class 10th in Nahan and then shifted to Chandigarh for better opportunities for his project.
While studying in class 11th, Ishant started working on the project which could take instructions in a human language and detect symptoms of the respective disease and can ultimately send alerts to family and doctors.

The project helped Ishant to realise the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and hence he decided to work on the project full time. The project which took the form of Asper now is a combination of smartphone and speaker-based virtual assistant.
Even though Ishant has dropped out of the traditional schooling system, he continues to educate himself through various online courses. He informed that he is learning various technical courses such as AI, Robotics and others through the medium of MOOCs - Massive Open Online Courses.
He further talked about his project Asper which will soon be introduced in restaurants to work as waiters. The personal assistant Robot will move around, take orders and send them to the kitchen directly using a wireless network.
