The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued clear instructions to all the schools regarding the upcoming board examinations for Class 10 and Class 12. The board has instructed the schools to not withhold the admit cards of students or detain an eligible candidate from appearing in exams at any cost. According to the observation made by CBSE, some schools are demanding extra money for issuing admit card to the eligible candidates.

CBSE Controller of Examinations, Mr. KK Chaudhary revealed that many complaints were received on the instances of not receiving admit cards by various schools affiliated to CBSE. Many schools are not issuing admit card to students on the ground of performance of students in pre-board exams. However, it is not the right of school management to detain the eligible students from appearing in exams. Schools violating rules in this regard will be penalised, he cautioned.

According to sources, many complaints regarding the non-issuance of admit card came into limelight in Ludhiana. Some schools are still withholding admit cards of students violating the orders of CBSE. LSPA (Ludhiana Schools Parent Association) submitted a complaint to DEO (District Education Officer) on February 26, 2018. Responding to the complaints raised by LPSA, the DEO issued instructions to schools to release the admit cards of students.
The CBSE board exams for Class 10 and Class 12 students are set to begin from March 05, 2018.
Recently, CBSE issued admit cards for private candidates.
