South Asian University Attracts More Foreign Students

New Delhi-based South Asian University has witnessed a rise in the number of students enrolling in different courses especially from countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan etc. Check the complete admission statistics of South Asian University for 2018 session here.

South Asian University Attracts More Foreign Students

According to the statistics of admissions of the South Asian University in New Delhi this year, there has been an increase in the number of students from South Asian Association Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries seeking admission in the university this year. The highest number is of 31 students from Afghanistan have enrolled for the master's degree in South Asian University (SAU), New Delhi.

A total number of 146 foreign students were offered seats in the master level courses at the university. Out of these, 96 have already joined and 24 students have enrolled in the medical programs. Apart from that, 15 students joined the session that started earlier this August.

Like previous years, Afghanistan still continues to lead the number with 31 students enrolling in the university followed by 30 students from Bangladesh and 26 students from Bhutan. Apart from this, 5 students from Pakistan have enrolled in the university to pursue post graduation courses. Last year, they were unable to get a study visa due to the frosty diplomatic relations.

While talking to a leading newspaper, a student from Pakistan said that he had learned about SAU from Facebook during his search for international institutes to pursue masters. Further, students from the SAARC countries, especially Afghanistan and Pakistan are finding it easy to adjust to the new environment because of the cultural similarities between the nations. On elaborating on feedback with respect to academics, students were of the opinion that the teachers in the university are experienced and well-qualified and a conducive learning environment with quality education standards encourages them to think critically.

SAU was established by the governments of all the SAARC nations in the year 2010 in order to provide academic opportunities apart from creating a sense of belonging to the South Asian community.
