Apart from being one of the oldest degree colleges in the Andhra Pradesh, SRR & CVR Government Degree College is the biggest degree college in Vijayawada. The college has a massive strength of 2,200 students in UG courses and 400 students in PG courses this year.
One of the oldest degree colleges in Vijayawada, SRR & CVR Government Degree College is doing its best to regain the past glory. The college, which was established in the year 1937, is still attracting a large number of students every year. Over the last few years, the popular government degree college in Vijayawada has been able to fill 90% seats in UG (Under Graduate) and Post Graduate (PG) courses.
Apart from being one of the oldest degree colleges in the Andhra Pradesh, SRR & CVR Government Degree College is the biggest degree college in Vijayawada and one of the biggest in Andhra Pradesh. The college had a major blow after the year 2000 due to the advent of corporate colleges. However, the college started to pick up after 2010 due to its quality education, lesser fees and a varied range of courses.

For the academic session 2017-18, the college achieved 88% pass percentage in PG courses and 80% in UG courses. The teaching staff strength of the college is 100, and 72 of them are regular faculty members. Hundreds of students from economically backward sections are pursuing quality education in SRR & CVR Government Degree College.
The fee structure of SRR & CVR Government Degree is student-friendly. The college charges Rs. 1,770 to Rs. 4,930 per annum for UG courses and Rs. 9,600 to Rs. 16,400 per annum for PG courses.
The Principal of SRR & CVR Government Degree College, Mr. Velaga Joshi revealed that the college is trying to transform into a knowledge hub with the support of faculty members. The education standards are being improved so that students will be able to land in jobs after the completion of the course. Students of SRR & CVR also take part in various social activities apart from academics, he added.

The college has a massive strength of 2,200 students in UG courses and 400 students in PG courses this year. The Jawahar Knowledge Centre in the college has been playing a dominant role in improving English language skills of students in coordination with the British Council.
SRR & CVR Government Degree College offers 22-degree courses with different combinations and eight PG courses. Students of SRR & CVR also secured jobs in campus placements organised by various agencies.
Apart from UG and PG courses, SRR & CVR offers Diploma courses in French and Arabic languages.
The college management has requested the state government of Andhra Pradesh to sanction Rs. 8 crores for the construction of a mega auditorium, and for other developmental works on the campus. The college will soon launch virtual and digital classes.
Within a few years, SRR & CVR Government Degree College will become the most favourable destination for higher studies in Vijayawada.
