The St. Xavier's University will be approaching the West Bengal government for the land expansion of its campus at New Town to introduce new departments. The university is planning to introduce a full-time MBA programme for the academic year 2018-19. The classes will commence from August 2018 and the infrastructure for the same will be built in 17 acres of land at New Town campus.
Felix Raj, Vice-Chancellor, SXU, informed the authorities that they will approach the chief minister of the state for 10 acres of land just opposite to the existing campus for the establishment of law school and sports management academy. He also said that SXU has already been granted the approval by AICTE to start the MBA programme.

The new MBA programme will offer various specializations such as systems and operations, marketing, finance, and HR. Initially, the programme will offer 120 seats. The score of CAT, XAT, and GMAT will be required by the management school in order to invite candidates for group discussion and personal interview. The university also plans to start short-term management undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

The Xavier's Business School (XBS) initiative of St Xavier’s University will join the league of Jesuit-run premier institutes such as XIMB Bhubaneswar, XIME Bangalore, Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) Chennai, and XLRI Jamshedpur. These institutes are regarded as premier management institutes across the country.
