Shivaji University has barred eight students from appearing to upcoming semester exams. According to the investigation made by the varsity, these students were involved in question paper leak in November 2017. All these students are from Mechanical Engineering stream, and these students were allegedly involved in question paper leak during the fifth-semester exams.
The issue came into the limelight after the university officials saw the screenshots of question paper. These students were produced before the Board of Examinations in the last week of December 2017. Apart from barring students for upcoming semester exams, the varsity imposed a fine of Rs. 500 each.

With a motive to not ruin the career of these students, the varsity had not imposed IT Act. The varsity had not filed a criminal case against the students. The varsity called the parents of these students and arranged a counselling session.
Director of Board of Examinations and Evaluation, Mr. Mahesh Kakade revealed that the varsity would not spare any student indulging in malpractices or question paper leak during the exams again. He also cautioned the teachers not to encourage such activities. The varsity will impose IT Act if students involved in question paper leak further, he concluded.

Vice Chancellor of Shivaji University, Mr. Devanand Shinde will conduct a meeting with the principals of all the affiliated colleges to raise some concerns and figure out solutions for some issues. The meeting will be convened in the third or last week of February.
