AICTE Chairperson recently said that students should be encouraged to take up internships to build their skills and alongside come up with new ideas and innovations with an objective to promote startup culture. Read more below.
Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, who is the Chairperson of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) while addressing the 51st annual function of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) at Chandigarh, said that students should be given a platform to present their ideas which can be further converted into meaningful innovations.
He urged the institute to create a support system where students can share their views and convert their designs into innovations. He elaborated by saying that AICTE's role is not limited to regulation higher education in the country, but it also considers itself responsible to act as a facilitator towards improving the quality of education in the country. He pointed out that at present, students usually face major challenges in terms of lack of resources and unemployment and that is where educational institutes should come forward and work out ways to deal with it. He said students should be encouraged to indulge in internships so that they can work more on honing their skills.

AICTE has also been encouraging universities and colleges to introduce entrepreneurship courses for its students. He added that research centres and labs should remain open 24 hours so that students have the flexibility to work on their innovations and designs as and when they wish. He believes that Indian students have a lot of potential and its about time that they are equipped with the right resources and platforms.

He continued by saying that AICTE is committed to improving the quality of technical education. He applauded NITTTR for taking new initiatives and introducing new ideas and innovations to fulfill the objective. He further assured that institute that AICTE will provide all the necessary support that will help it achieve its mission and vision in a holistic manner.
