The students of TSWREIS have created and launched a space microprobe. This initiative was done in collaboration with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Hyderabad.
The students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) have launched SWAEROSAT-2 on 1st August 2019. This achievement has proved to be another feather in the cap of the students of TSWREIS.
This was the second microprobe that was sent by the students near space in order to study the atmospheric pollutants such as carbon monoxide, methane gas, and also the radiation and temperature levels. This initiative was executed in partnership with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) of Hyderabad. The payload was successfully launched in a high altitude balloon.
In the previous month, TSWREIS students had sent a tiny payload successfully into the stratosphere, taking the help of TIFR Hyderabad in getting a massive balloon from the premises of the institute. The near-space microprobe had recorded data throughout the flight which had lasted for about four hours.
The previous launch was made for studying several harmful radiations and also for measuring the concentration of ozone at various altitudes and then comparing it with the global standards. The whole flight was tracked live through GPS from a control centre located at the premises of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and the payload was recovered at Gulbarga in Karnataka.
The secretary of TSWREIS, Dr R S Praveen Kumar, congratulated all the students for their remarkable and commendable scientific endeavours. He said that these experiments will be remembered for a long time as they are such special and memorable moments.

Kumar also thanked the Chairperson of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Hyderabad, Dr Ojha, the Director Sandip Trivedi, and the scientist-in-charge, Dr Suneel Kumar for lending their support in popularising such space research programmes among students who hail from the most deprived sections of the society.
