In a letter to vice chancellors of all universities and principals of all colleges, UGC has requested they fix the last date for undergraduate admissions after the CBSE Class 12 results are announced. Following a request from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) last week, the commission now will request universities to adjust their admission schedules in line with their results. According to the board, some universities began admission processes before the results for Class 12 were announced.
On Wednesday, the UGC, in a letter addressed to vice chancellors of all universities and principals and directors of all colleges, "As you are aware, CBSE conducted board examinations in two terms, namely term 1 and term 2, in order to negate the impact of COVID. We have already communicated the results of term-1 to the schools. Term 2 is being evaluated, and results will be prepared soon." It further added, "The registration process for undergraduate courses at some universities for the summer session 2022-23 has begun. Hence, CBSE students will be denied admission if the last date is set by the universities prior to CBSE results announcement".
In order to provide "sufficient time" for such candidates, the UGC requested the higher education institutions fix the deadline for admission to undergraduate courses after the announcement of CBSE results. Class 10 and 12 results are likely to be released by the end of the month by the CBSE.
