Usually, CBSE conducts UGC NET exam twice a year. However, the board conducted only one session of UGC NET exam in 2017. Most of the aspiring candidates were highly disappointed with the decision of the board and demanded the centre to conduct another session of UGC NET exam.
On the other hand, CBSE expressed its inability to conduct UGC NET twice a year. There is no clarity from either UGC or HRD Ministry regarding the second session UGC NET exam. Aspirants also lack clarity whether UGC NET will be conducted once or twice a year from 2018.
Currently, the HRD Ministry is in the process of constituting National Testing Agency (NTA), which will take the responsibility of conducting UGC NET along with other premier entrance exams. If NTA begins functioning in 2018, it might hold UGC NET twice a year.
