The post graduate students of IIT -Bombay may get an edge over the undergraduate students in the recent placement offer in the institute but when it comes to the packages, it is undergraduate students who ruled the roast, the revelation came from the statistics revealed by the institute after the first round of campus placement.

The job offers have been pouring from the different companies and the average salary in 2017 tagged at INR 11.32 lakhs. It is slightly less than the packages offered by leading employers in 2015. The difference between the salaries of M. Tech and B. Tech is somewhere 5-10%. Most of the companies usually prefer B. Tech students over M. Sc and M. Tech students.
A professor of the institute said that when it comes opportunities, undergrads are always at a comfortable level than the postgraduates. There are more openings for the general profile than the specialists one. B. Tech degree of IIT's is enough to get better salary packages.
This difference in salary is seen only at the entry level. Lots students leave their job after two and three years and go for MBA as to get better packages in their next job said another professor. Around 50% postgraduates remain unplaced compared to 30 students undergraduate students in IIT -B.
