The Jammu and Kashmir state board of school education (JKBOSE) conduct its academic session from December - November due to extreme weather conditions, allowing students for a long winter break. However, the J&K board has been facing issues in starting the academic session from 2014 because of the deluge in South Kashmir and in some parts of Srinagar city.
The final examination for the 2014 academic session was held in March- April 2015. Due to this, the results for this batch were declared in June 2015.
Khurshid Andrabi, Vice-Chancellor and Professor said that the government decided to delay the entrance examination so they could accommodate this batch as the student's whole academic session would have gone for the toss and they could have only applied for the same next year. The 2015 batch will be graduating this month and the university is planning to conduct the entrance exams for the master’s programme in August 2018.
Also, the 2016 batch also suffered a delay in the session due to the floods in the valley. Due to the delay in the academic session, the undergraduate students planning to take admission in a master’s programme could lose a year. Therefore, to accommodate as many students as they can varsity will conduct the entrance exam in the month of August for 2018 academic session.
