UPSC CSE Prelims 2022 Last Minute Tips

UPSC CSE Prelims 2022 is scheduled to be held on June 05, 2022 and the e-admit cards for the same have been released. In these last days, the candidates tend to panic and question their preparation level, constantly worrying if they would succeed or not. To effectively use the scarce left time, it is most important for the candidates to lock out their worries and focus exclusively and convergently on their studies.

UPSC CSE in itself is a challenging examination but proper preparation, and especially proper revision helps tremendously to increase one’s chances of qualifying. Amongst the two papers, the candidates face more difficulty with the General Studies examination which is why we have provided below some quick last-minute tips to help the candidates revise their GS preparation.

UPSC CSE Prelims 2022: Last Minute Tips for General Studies

Here are some of the important last-minute tips for UPSC CSE Prelims 2022 -

  • The foremost and most important is to not begin a new topic at this moment. If something is left, it is better left. Dedicate this time to revision alone.
  • If you have notes prepared, it is better to go through the notes than to go through heavy books.
  • The most troublesome topic from GS is current affairs as the preparation for it seems endless. Many candidates tend to extensively revise current affairs in the last week of the examination but it is more time-consuming than output-based.
You can go through 10 books of current affairs and still feel underprepared but with other topics like polity, environment, history, art and culture, etc., the specified books are enough and most of the questions that appear in the examination are predicted (unlike current affairs). It must be remembered that while current affairs is important, it is not the sole carrier of the prelims examination.
  • Prioritizing within the syllabus is also important. Pick up the topics that are easier for you first to give your revising speed as well as morale a boost and then move to the mediocre topics with the highest weightage and so on.
  • Another important point commonly ignored by the candidates is the solving of previous years’ papers and mock tests. Solving previous papers and/or mock tests not only gives you an idea about your preparation and speed but also helps you learn newer information and revise the already learned information.
