UPTET 2019 Attendance - Approximately 15 Lakh Students Turned Up at Over 3K Centres

Out of the 16.5 lakh candidates who successfully registered, 15 lakh turned up on the exam day. New measures to make the UPTET exam foolproof were also introduced.

A record number of students turned up on 08th January for the Uttar Pradesh Teachers Eligibility Testor UPTET 2019 which was conducted in multiple shifts for primary school and upper primary school teachers recruitment. According to a reliable source, some 15 lakh students flocked to the 3,049 exam centres located all across the state to take the teacher’s eligibility test.

Around 16.5 lakh students were said to have registered for the UPTET 2019 exam out of which nearly 15 lakh turned up on the exam date. The first shift of the exam, which was conducted for primary school teachers recruitment, alone had nearly 9.9 lakh attendees out of the 10.8 lakh who had submitted the UPTET 2019 application form. Around 5 lakh students appeared for the second shift of the UPTET 2019 exam for upper primary school teachers recruitment out of the 5.7 lakh who actually applied for it. From Lucknow alone, 65,000 students submitted the UPTET 2019 application form. Around 10% of the registered candidates were not present at their respective exam centres to take the test.

Almost 1.2 lakh teachers were at invigilator duty to ensure fair conduct of the entrance test. In addition to the invigilators, there were 663 flying squads and 6,096 supervisors who worked in unison for the smooth conduct of the entrance test.

It was for the first time in the history of UPTET that no individual, whether it be a student, superintendent, static magistrates etc, was allowed to carry cellular devices inside the exam centres. Only primitive keypad phones without camera were allowed inside the examination centres in an attempt to make the system “foolproof”.
