Inaugurating a workshop in Patna University on National Assessment and Accreditation Council accreditation VC Y.C. Simhadri emphasized the need for NAAC accreditation of the university for ensuring its all-round development.
A report has said that all the post graduate departments, institutes and the constituents of Patna University were asked to furnish details of their academic activities during the last five years in the prescribed format within 15 days.
The colleges in Patna University that have been accredited by the NAAC are Patna Women's College, Magadh Mahila College and College of Arts and Crafts. Patna Women’s College holds NAAC ‘A’ accreditation, the Magadh Mahila College (MMC) also has been given grade ‘A’ by the NAAC. The College of Arts and Craft has been conferred by NAAC ‘B’ grade. The number of colleges accredited by NAAC is very few colleges in Bihar.
Also, that having a grading from the NAAC is one of the essential parameters to receive the grants from the UGC (University Grants Commission). Patna University (PU) which is one of the oldest universities in India has paltry 3 colleges with the NAAC accreditation seal as per a declaration of grading and assessment in the month of January 2016.
